Fully grown common trees yield resin, tar, or syrup when tapped with a [[Tapperzapfhahn]], or [[woodholz]] and [[sapharz]] when felled by an [[AxesÄxte|axeaxt]]. After [[ForagingSammeln#Foraging SkillSammeln-Fähigkeit|Foraging Sammeln Level 1]], felling common trees also produces some of the tree's own seed, which can then be planted on [[The FarmDer Hof]]. Common trees that grow outside of the farm will grow back without the need to plant a seed. Special trees have their own unique characteristics.

Common Trees can be planted in the [[GreenhouseGewächshaus]].

Three varieties of common trees grow on [[The FarmDer Hof]] and within Stardew Valley. Their sap may be used to produce syrup via a [[Tapperzapfhahn]], and their [[Woodholz]] has many uses, including [[CraftingHerstellung]] and building construction/upgrades.

Upon falling, a tree releases items (such as wood or seeds) in the area where the upper part of it impacts the ground. The direction of its fall thus becomes particularly important near bodies of water, since all items that fall into water disappear forever. Rings like the [[Magnet RingMagnetring]] are very useful when chopping trees, as they allow the player to pick up items within a wider radius, reducing the need to cut obstacles to get to the fallen wood.

Stardew Valley author Concerned Ape [https://twitter.com/ConcernedApe/status/711010819861970944 has confirmed on Twitter] that trees do not regrow from a stump, contrary to a common belief. Thus, it is generally useful to clear the land of a stump to make it available for any planting, which also requires new seed. Alternatively, it may be useful to chop down trees growing outside [[The FarmDer Hof]] but leave the stumps intact if foraging or searching for [[Artifact SpotArtefakt-Ort|Artefakte-Orte]]s, so that a large area can be seen at a glance without the need to walk behind each tree.

A properly planted seed has approximately a 20% chance of growing to the next stage each day during [[SpringFrühling]], [[SummerSommer]], or [[FallHerbst]], or in the [[GreenhouseGewächshaus]]. Mathematically, this implies that the chances are about even that a tree will grow one stage within three days, and that the median growth time to maturity is about 18 days. Actual growth times can vary considerably, from a minimum of four days, and up to an unlimited number of days. Less than 10% of seeds take more than 31 growing days to become a mature tree; less than 1% take more than 46 days.

Unlike [[Fruit TreesObstbäume]] which produce [[CoalKohle]] for 3-4 days after being hit by lightning, common trees hit by lightning are destroyed, leaving only a stump (and some wood or sap) behind.

They can be [[Tapper|tapped]] and will yield mushrooms over time.
